Marissa Mayer Resigned From Google Just 30 Minutes Before Joining Yahoo!

37 year old Marissa Mayer (Full name Marissa Ann Mayer) joined Google in 1999 as a 20th employee, shortly after achieving a Master degree in Computer Science from Stanford University. She was the company’s first female engineer. After working with Google 13 years, Mayer was appointed as a President and CEO of Yahoo! on July 16, 2012. The interesting news is, she revealed the news to her Google colleagues just 30 minutes before the Yahoo board announced the news publicly.

Marissa Mayer

Yahoo! desperately wanted Marissa Mayer as its President and CEO. But Yahoo! had doubt, anyhow if Google had come to know the news of Mayer’s joining to Yahoo!, the company (Google) would offer everything to keep this Google Executive with them. And if the offer was good, then Mayer might have changed her mind to leave Google and join Yahoo!. So, Yahoo! requested Mayer to unveil the news to Google as well as to her colleagues as late as possible. Yahoo! board announced Mayer’s joining to Yahoo! as a President and CEO publicly on July 16. Just before the 30 minutes of Yahoo!’s publicly announcement, Mayer unveiled the news only to her colleagues.

But lately a rumor is swirling that Mayer’s joining to Yahoo! is a part of Google’s master plan. However, after joining Yahoo!, she announced that Yahoo! would provide its each employee a smartphone and they will even get food for free. She also announced a good news to the press in another announcement that she’s expecting her first child this fall.
