World’s First Manned Flight With An Electric Multicopter

Helicopters and Multicopters have different functions and shapes. Multicopter (some says multihelicopter) is far different from normal helicopter. A German physicist and paraglider pilot named Thomas Senkel have successfully completed a ride on an electric multicopter and made a new record in the Guinness World Record. In fact, Thomas is the very first man to ride on an electric multicopter and completed it successfully.

Last October, near Karlsruhe, Germany, Thomas Senkel completed the first manned flight of an electric multicopter successfully. He was flying this electric multicopter with a distance of 10 feet off the ground for 1 minute 30 seconds. The name of the company is E-volo who has created this electric multicopter. Thomas helped the company also to build the craft. In simple word, this multicopter is basically a remote-controlled hexacopter. Just have a look of the video below.

In fact their word is like this, “The flight characteristics are good natured. Without any steering input it would just hover there on the spot”.

About Multicopter :
Multicopters are very easy to control than controlling a helicopter. In fact, multicopters are more stable. They are safe to use. There is a seat for one person. The craft has 16 rotors. Each rotor runs through a battery beneath the rotors. If 4 rotors out of its 16 rotors become disable or malfunctioned, it can even land on the ground without any crash. E-volo is planning to build a two-seat multicopter by the spring. They hope, for recreational purposes, they will be ready to sell the craft by next year. Hope so, the price will be high. This is one of the magnificent vehicles created till now. In future, if space doesn’t make a fact, may this vehicle would replace cars. What do you think, Guys? Share with us.
