Apple has been following the convention of kick starting its WWDC events with some impressive statistics from the company. And Apple definitely has loads of them, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that Apple chose to mention these stats at the start of WWDC 2012 too.
This year too, Apple started WWDC 2012 with some very impressive statistics. What is truly mind-blowing is the pace at which Apple’s App Store is growing, in light of the stats divulged by the company.
For instance, at the event, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook mentioned that currently, there are some 400 million registered accounts on the store. This is a huge improvement on the 225 million accounts which were mentioned last year at WWDC.
Moreover, the number of apps available on the App Store has reached a whopping 650,000 up from last year’s 425,000. Out of these apps, 225,000 have been made specifically for the iPad. Last year, merely 90,000 out of 425,000 apps were made specifically for iPad. This, in a way, shows that the influence of Apple’s iPad has significantly grown over time.
What was the most impressive piece of information that Tim Cook shared during his talk was that so far, 30 billion apps have been downloaded from Apple’s App Store ever since the store was launched back in 2008. Also, Apple has paid a whopping sum of $5 billion to developers and that the App Store can now be accessed and used by users from 152 countries.
