Ever since Apple’s iPhone 5 launch, many analysts have been calling the device a disappointment. Some have said that this marks the end of the iPhone era while others are confident that iPhone 5 isn’t going to succeed in the smartphone market. However, the facts stand contrary to all of that.
On Friday, Apple made available the option of placing pre-orders for iPhone 5 at its own website apple.com. On the website, you could order an iPhone 5 bundled with a data plan from either of three wireless carriers, AT&T, Verizon or Sprint.
However, within an hour, all the pre-orders had already sold out. This essentially indicates that either had faced productions bottlenecks and had a small inventory – or that the demand for the device simply shot through the roof in that one hour.
If you place a pre-order for iPhone 5 now, you will have to wait for another two weeks to lay your hands on it. It is understandable that users are eager to lay their hands on iPhone 5. The device packs a powerful A6 chip, together with a larger display and an 8-megapixel camera.
Apart from the pre-orders placed on Apple’s website, the iPhone 5 stock also flew right off the shelf at AT&T and Verizon. Both the companies ran out of their initial stock hours after they started offering pre-orders for it.
