The Wireless Association, CTIA, has continued to host two mega industry events year after year. These include the CTIA, which is usually hosted in spring and focuses on consumer products; and the fall show, MobileCON, which is more geared towards the enterprise market. Come 2014 and both will be merged into one.
It is unclear as to what factors affected CTIA to make the decision but the organization said as much that it was doing this for the best of the industry at large and that this was precisely what the industry wanted.
CTIA has mentioned these intents well ahead of time since we still have to go through two different CTIA events during 2013. In the current year, CTIA will host both shows as usual. CTIA 2013 is scheduled to take place on the dates May 21 – 23 in Sands Expo Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada.
The MobileCON 2013, on the other hand, is meant to take place during October 9 – 11 in San Jose, California. Apparently, this year will be the last time we will be able to witness the two events taking place separately.
In 2014, the two will be consolidated into what CTIA is calling a ‘super mobile show.’ We can only surmise at what it could be since the association says that it would be a ‘springboard’ of sorts. Surely, with one event in place of two, it would be a lot less hassle for the press to cover technology happenings.
