Have 100+ Subscribers? Then Go Live On YouTube

YouTube has announced some much applauded features for smaller content creators, which were limited to larger ones until now, at this year’s VidCon that ended yesterday. The features that were opened up for smaller content creators are “live streaming, custom thumbnails, external annotations and series playlists.”

Three months ago YouTube lowered the bar of starting live streaming to 1,000 subscribers. It has lowered the bar again. Now, all channels with 100 or more subscribers can stream live events. The feature will be opening up in the next few weeks. Eligible channels will find the option under their Account Features page with an “Enable” button.

Apart from lowering the bar on live streaming, YouTube has also opened up some other features for small content creators. They can now create custom thumbnail to make their videos stand out. Linking to online stores or associated websites has also been enabled. Placing series playlist to increase viewer engagement has also been enabled.

You can find an extensive documentation on these matters at YouTube’s Creator Playbook site.
