NFC technology has been around for quite a while and been put to many uses. Now, with the availability of Motorola Skip, you can utilize the technology by unlocking your Moto X handset without having the need to tap the screen.
Motorola Skip is essentially a tiny device which comes equipped with NFC. It is fashioned with a piece of cloth and a pair of magnets, so that it can easily be fastened to clothes or any other convenient surface. It arrives with three additional NFC-enabled stickers which you can add to different things at your home.
To set up Skip, all you need to do is enable NFC on your Moto X handset and tap it to Skip or any of its accompanying stickers. When you do this for the first time, it will prompt a configuration screen on the display of your handset. This screen will confirm if you really wish to pair your Skip tag with the handset and ask you to provide a password.
Now that the tag is configured, all you need to do is simply tap the handset against a Skip tag. When you do so, the handset’s screen is unlocked instantly, without you needing to tap the display or press a button.
If you’ve ordered Moto X through the Moto Maker offer, you will be getting Skip for free with your order. However, if you’ve purchased the Moto X handset from a carrier, you will have to cough up an additional $20 to lay your hands on it.
