Microsoft Releases Guide: How To Buy A PC For Your Mom

The holiday season has just begun and countless tech deals are already out there. If you are planning to gift your mom a PC this year, Microsoft has released a guide that is perfect to help you with your quest.

Windows PC

Buying a PC can be a tough job. It’s not so much about the technology as it is about the person who has to use the PC. You have to pause and think what kind of uses your mom would put the PC to and based on that, close in on the right choice.

There are multiple vendors offering multiple computers with different specs and price tags. You need to be sure that the PC you find has the right kind of hardware that will live up to its expected use and manage to purchase such a PC within your pre-decided budget.

The guide released by Microsoft is really helpful because it asks all the right questions. Will your mom store and edit photos on the machine? Will she browse the internet and use email? Does she want to use the PC wirelessly or play games online? The answers to these questions will determine what you eventually buy.

Desktops are an easier choice because once you lock down on a good enough brand, say Dell, all you need to do is get a standard computer with good enough hardware. For today’s top end works, some 500 GB of hard drive together with 4GB to 6GB of RAM and Wi-Fi connectivity would do. Such a system would be able to perform most of the tasks.

However, if you are unsure and really want help with finding the right PC for your mom, browse to the Microsoft’s official guide.
