Nearly two years ago, Google launched ‘Schemer‘, an online service which allowed users to share their goals in a neat manner and discuss them online. Now, a leaked internal memo suggests that Google plans to quit the service.
Although Schemer has been around since the end of 2011, it has failed to gain the attention of many users. One of the key reasons for this is that Google didn’t exactly market the service well enough. It wouldn’t be a surprise if an overwhelming majority of the internet users have not even heard about it.
In view of this, it is understandable if Google ends the service. An internal memo which somehow leaked to the web recently shows a sample closure page for the official Schemer site. It contains text with the title ‘Schemer will be shut down on [insert date].’
The text then goes on to ask the users to secure their data before the service shuts down. This may be the inevitable future of Schemer but for now, the service is alive and kicking. Neither has Google confirmed that it aims to carry out the plans laid out in the leaked memo posted above. Nonetheless, if you are a user of ‘Schemer’, it would be advisable to download and secure whatever data you got there before it gets the axe.
