World’s Largest Solar Farm In California Started Its Journey, Running In Full Pace

Now a days, we are gradually inclining to solar power. The U.S is one of the countries which is spreading the solar power technology rapidly. Lately, it’s been reported that world’s largest solar farm in California has started its journey and it’s running in full pace.

Topaz Solar Farm

Topaz solar farm is now the world’s largest solar plant. Its construction began in 2012. It is located in San Luis Obispo County, California, on the northwestern corner of the Carrisa Plains. This solar power plant can produce 550 megawatt of electricity.

Location Of Topaz Solar Farm

Topaz is the very first and currently the largest solar power plant in the world that can produce more than 500-megawatt electricity. With such power, the solar farm is able to provide power supply to at least 160,000 homes.

Topaz Solar Farm is built on 9.5 square miles (25 square km) area, a third of the size of Manhattan. It consists of nine million solar panels.
And it is a major step towards the state’s goals of supplying 33 per cent of electricity to homes from renewable sources by 2020. Note that, this project costs $2.5 billion.
