Lately we’ve heard a mix of bitter sweet news from Mozilla but the end of the year is certainly impressive. After the company was rumored of losing about 84% of its revenue Google announced renewing the contract for another three years to be the default search engine on Firefox, and the financial disaster was avoided. With good times ahead, Mozilla recently released a new version of its desktop web browser, Firefox 9, albeit still in beta. Now, Firefox 9 for Android tablets just landed.
As Mozilla explains it on the company official blog, the new Firefox version for Android is specially designed and optimized for tablet displays and makes the best out of tablet web surfing. “The Awesome Screen integrates Firefox Sync and makes it easy to access your browsing history, open tabs, bookmarks and saved passwords across desktop and mobile devices.” The main features that make the new Firefox app more suitable for Android tablets include full screen portrait browsing, tab optimization, new action bar with quick access buttons.
In addition to design improvements, Mozilla also added to its free app available in Android Market a set of bug fixes. Users might also notice a faster boot time for the app, than the previous version delivered. Moreover, the company advertises “the latest security and privacy features” to improve online safety.
