The MOTOROI is an upgraded version of China Telecom’s exclusive Motorola XT701 that was introduced in December 2010. There are lots of similarities between both devices but the differences are what caught our attention.
As the leaked roadmap suggested, the MOTOROI, a.k.a. Motorola XT720, packs a large 3.7″ 16M color capacitive touchscreen display of 480 x 854 pixel resolution, a 3.5mm audio jack, a GPS receiver, runs Android OS 2.0 and features UMTS and Wi-Fi support.
Sounds pretty much like the Milestone, doesn’t it? Well, the MOTOROI has no hardware keyboard, and for now it will be exclusively sold by Korea Telecom (MOTOROI is above all a CDMA phone).
There is some other new stuff about the Motorola XT720’s hardware: it has 8GB of on board memory (with a microSDHC card slot) and an 8-megapixel autofocus camera packing a Xenon flash and capable of 720p video recording. The tablet also comes with an HDMI port which can be used to transfer the recorded videos to a compatible TV or other devices.
Multi-touch is also supported so you’ll be able to zoom in or out using the known pinch gesture. When it comes to text input options, you get an on-screen 3×4 alphanumeric keypad, a QWERTY or half-QWERTY keypad as well as handwriting recognition.
The tablet also supports the South Korean T-DMB wireless tech for watching TV or listening to radio.
The Motorola XT720 MOTOROI measures 115.95 x 60.9 x 10.9 mm and weighs only 140 grams.
The device will hit Korea Telecom’s stores across the country at the beginning of February 2010 but its price is still unknown.
