At Embedded Systems Expo, Toshiba Information Systems presented AirSwing, a user interface that can be operated via a camera.
With AirSwing, a menu screen and a semi-transparent image of the user are shown on the display. The user can select content by shaking their hand while it is superimposed over buttons on the menu screen.
AirSwing is intended as an alternative to a keyboard and mouse or other conventional input devices. A major feature of AirSwing is that it consumes hardly any CPU resources while the equipment is running.
And according to Toshiba, some software only utilizes about three percent of a 400MHz ARM 11 CPU — meaning that you have plenty of processor left for running your pre-crime diagnostics.
AirSwing is designed to be operated just by shaking your hands, and as it’s so easy and intuitive to use, it’s expected to be utilized as digital signage in malls.
