Safari 5.1.4 Available For Developers: Better Javascript Speed, Printing PDFs And Zooming Gestures

Apple has been rolling out it’s updates on an almost unbelievable pace. It introduced Safari 5.1.3 in it’s major update Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 only recently. And now, it has introduced yet another update for Safari namely Safari 5.1.4. Apple claims that this new version assures better javascript performance and also allows for zooming using gestures and keyboard shortcuts. You must be a registered developer to download this latest version. The download links are given below.


Developers who wish to download and test Safari 5.1.3 must update their machines to OS X 10.7.3. Also, to download the latest version of Safari, you must be a registered developer or you won’t be able to download it.

Apple claims that this new version introduces a number of new features. One of them is the many fixes it has which speed up the performance of Javascript. Developers are being asked to download the version and test it, specifically run javascript pages and see if there are any compatibility issues.

Another new feature that the new version claims to have is to be allow zooming using gestures. Developers are being asked to test it and check the interaction with plug-ins. Also, developers have been asked to test zooming using gestures and keyboard shortcuts.

Moreover, the new version also includes support for PDF printing. If you are a developer, you should try to load PDFs displayed in iframes on Safari and then try to get them to print.
