Mozilla Set To Officially Release Firefox 16 Today

The Mozilla team has a knack of rolling out frequent updates for its Mozilla browser. The latest in its list of releases is Firefox 16 for desktop, which has been scheduled to be released today. The new version is already available for download to Windows, Mac and Linux users in Mozilla FTP.

However, the official Firefox download page is yet to feature version 16. If you are eager to lay your hands on Firefox 16, you can get it from Mozilla FTP server. The new release includes a number of new features which you can check out just ahead of the official public release.

For instance, Firefox 16 packs Web app support for all desktop operating systems as well as an improved method for garbage collection. The use of incremental garbage collection will enhance the overall speed and performance of the browser.

Mozilla explains it in the following words, “This is a major feature, over a year in the making, that makes Firefox smoother and less laggy. With incremental GC, Firefox responds more quickly to mouse clicks and key presses. Animations and games will also draw more smoothly.”

The new browser also come with a number of new features for developers to tweak with. It includes a new developer toolbar which enables the developers to manage quick access to a number of controls. Moreover, it also supports CSS3 animations, transitions and transforms. The developer version of Firefox 16 is also available and can be downloaded here.
