Windows 8 Full Upgrade To Be Available Only For Windows 7 Users

Microsoft has finalized its Windows 8 upgrade paths from older Windows versions. The company has shared its plans with selected partners. Microsoft has briefed them about Windows 8 upgrade paths for different users. Mary Jo Foley, a blogger of ZDNet reported details of the plans with reference to unnamed sources.


There are three upgrade paths for three different versions of Windows 8 (Windows 8 entry level consumer version, Windows 8 Pro, Windows 8 Enterprise). Window 8 is fully upgradable, that is upgrade while maintaining existing Windows settings, personal files and applications, from Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Home Basic and Windows 7 Home Premium. Windows 8 Pro is fully upgradable from Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Home Basic, Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate. Windows 8 Enterprise is fully upgradable from Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Enterprise.

Windows Vista and Windows XP users won’t, however, avail a full upgrade option. But their personal data will surely be preserved.
