The third major installment of Dragon Age series titled ” Dragon Age III: Inquisition” will debut in the second half of 2013. After the huge success of the previous installments, Bioware is now working on introducing a new third-person RPG game with more action inspired by Skyrim vs Elder Scroll. The game is already expected to break the sales records of its predecessors.
Both Dragon Age and Dragon Age II were third-person role-playing strategy games. But the upcoming Dragon Age III will be of action genre, instead of strategy. Players will be able to execute complete control over the characters from dialogue selection to combat . The camera movement will also be more flexible and easy. Not only that, there will be a new feature of vast customization of collectibles where each item can be customized according to meet the character’s requirement. There will be extended level of teamwork and interaction in the game.
Mark Darrah, Executive Producer of Dragon Age III, said, “It’s composed of both experienced BioWare veterans and talented new developers. We are working on a new engine which we believe will allow us to deliver a more expansive world, better visuals, more reactivity to player choices, and more customization. At Pax East, we talked about armor and followers… Yeah, that kind of customization. We’ve started with Frostbite 2 from DICE as a foundation to accomplish this.”
Dragon Age III will have its setting in the plot of Thedas with four to five times the size of Ferelden, the setting of the first game in the series. The game will not feature Hawke, Dragon Age II Protagonist; instead, a new hero will emerge. The game will use Frostbite 2 engine, which already have reputation to develop big hits like Battlefield 3 and MOH: Warfighter.
Although, no specific date of release has been cited, according to Mark Kirby, member of developer team, the game will be available in the last half of 2013.
