An analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo from Concord securities released a latest research note in which he claimed that Apple’s iPad 2 will be equipped with a Anti-reflection screen, ARM Cortex -A9 Dual core processor, Imagination’s SGX543 dual core GPU and 512MB of RAM, and iPod Touch 4G like camera.
He added that screen will possible be 30-35% thinner than the current thickness and anti-reflection feature will provide the user an ease of using the iPad 2 even in the sunlight. Another important thing in this report is that the iPad will be equipped with Cortex A9 dual core processor with clock speed of 1.2GHz and SGX 543 dual-core GPU of Imagination technology. As far as the cameras are concerned, iPad is expected to have the same low quality cameras which were used in iPod Touch.
“The improvement of iPad 2 display,” the report notes, “focuses on thickness and anti-reflection, not resolution. iPad 2 display module is 30~35% thinner than iPad 1 and it’s helpful for better form factor.
“Thanks to anti-reflection, iPad 2 could have better sunlight readable experience and it’s helpful for Apple to compete with Amazon’s fast growing Kindle business.
“The most important reason why iPad 2 won’t have retinal display is yield rate of panel making. At this point, making high resolution and bright IPS/FFS panel is not easy and the production volume and cost couldn’t meet Apple’s requirements.”
As reported earlier, iPad 2 will carry 0.3 megapixel VGA front facing camera and a 1 mega-pixel rear camera. As iPad 2 won’t be loaded with Retina Dispaly, these cameras should be enough to guarantee good picture quality. Don’t expect to get a 5 mega-pixel camera like the iPhone 4. May be when iPad 3 get Retina Display and gets bumped to a 5 megapixel camera.
All the specs in question will be cleared when Apple announces iPad on February 9th, 2010 and remember, Apple’s Next Gen iPad will come in three versions (UMTS, CDMA, & WiFi)
