Apple May Launch Multiple-Colored, Large-Sized iPhones

When it comes to the sheer numbers of handsets sold, Samsung has bagged the crown. Even in terms of revenues, Samsung is catching up fast to the current leader, Apple. It could be, due to this pressure from Samsung, Apple is now reportedly considering launching iPhone models with multiple sizes and in different colors.

Whereas we recently reported that iPhone 6 may feature a 4.7-inch display, sources within Apple’s supply chain in Asia now claim that the company may launch an iPhone with a 5.7-inch display. This would essentially mean that Apple would be moving into the ‘phablet’ arena.

Other interesting revelations made by these sources are that Apple has floated a cheaper, $99 iPhone. The company is apparently trying to garner feedback on it and see whether or not it would be viable to launch it.

Although iPhone customers have pined for larger display sizes for a while now, launching a 5.7-inch iPhone may not be a great decision for Apple. This would essentially put iPhone somewhere between a smartphone and a tablet, a device niche that is growing but hasn’t proved more popular than regular smartphones.

At the same time, Apple is also considering launching upcoming iPhone handsets in multiple colors, so as to entice a greater portion of the audience who wants more customized smartphones. According to one source in Asia, “Trial production was originally planned to start in June, but the mixing of colours is taking longer than expected as Apple has very high and idealistic standards.”
