When Samsung removed the wraps from its Galaxy S III smartphone, most of us were indeed impressed with the looks, the hardware and the interface that this device packed. However, it seems that many are very unimpressed with the device. Among then is the chairman of Foxconn, one of Apple’s chief supply chain members.
The exact words, as have been reported by a Taiwanese publication, are that according to Foxconn’s chairman Terry Gou, Apple’s upcoming iPhone will ‘put Galaxy S III to shame.’ These are strong words and they show that Apple and its partners are very ambitious about Apple’s upcoming flagship smartphone.
However, let’s not jump to conclusions. Gou also seems to harbor some antagonism towards Samsung, some of it well-placed. He describes Samsung as ‘a company with a track record of snitching on its competitors’, vowing to defeat Samsung. In saying so, Gou was actually referring to an incident on 2010 in which Samsung ‘snitched’ on four Taiwanese companies during a EU investigation on flat-panel price-fixing.
Gou believes that once iPhone 5 will be released, smartphone users will realize that it is lot better than Galaxy S III. And that’s why he advises them to wait till the launch of iPhone 5.
In his own words, “I respect the Japanese and especially like their execution and communication styles. Unlike the Koreans, they will not hit you from behind.”
