Apple’s first iPhone 2G is now being advertised as a collector’s item on eBay. Last month, one was sold for $1999 on eBay. However, we’ve found eBay is now offering 8GB iPhone 2G handset with AT&T for $2,500.
Apple released its first iPhone 2G on 29 June, 2007, in the U.S and since then it has launched seven handsets including the latest iPhone 5S and 5C. The iPhone 2G has a 3.5-inch, 160-PPI (pixel per inch) screen that is only half an inch smaller than the last released iPhone 5S. However, a brand new unlocked iPhone 5S costs $699, but eBay is now offering 8GB iPhone 2G handset with AT&T for $2,500. Naturally question may arise, why is eBay offering an old fashioned and less featured iPhone 2G at such high price?
Well, there’s a saying that “old is gold” and such high price offered by eBay testifies that iPhone 2G has now become a rare handset and hence its such price is fair. Apart from this high priced handset, you will find eBay selling used iPhone 2G model for around £50.
Interestingly, a fan site EverythingApplePro has found iPhone 2G a better device compared to some recent mobile devices in terms of performance. During test, it was found that iPhone 2G phone boosts up fast than the iPhone 4. The test also showed the Apple’s iPhone 3G was the slowest to boost. Check out the video below for more.
