For long, users of iPhone 5 running iOS 6.1.4 have been waiting for an untethered jailbreak. Winocm announced a few days ago that he was working on it and now, he has posted images which shows that he has finally achieved it.
Winocm announced the jailbreak by posting an image to his Twitter feed. One week ago, he had stated that he may be able to perform an untethered jailbreak on iPhone 5 running iOS 6.1.4, with the help of a binary. Back then, he stated that he had tested the binary on iPhone 4 alone.
Fast-forward four weeks and now, he has apparently used the binary with similar success on iPhone 5. For now, Winocm hasn’t released any ETA to go with his claims but we are hoping that he would soon release it for the users. Untethered iPhone 5 jailbreak allows you to use a jailbroken iPhone 5 without requiring to attach it to a PC for every reboot.
The screenshot posted above shows that there’s truth to Winocm’s claim. He also posted a screenshot which showed that the jailbreak was successful on the CDMA version of iPhone 5.
Things to note here, as iOS7 release is just at the door, so if this untethered jailbreak use any new exploit that not been made public before, then this Jailbreak will not be released before iOS 7 and Next iPhone (iPhone 5S maybe!). Because there is always good chance that Apple will have same exploit on iOS 7 and maybe in upcoming iPhone too. So jailbreaker, hold your breath for a while.
