iPhone Baseband “06.15.00” Downgrade Finally Released By iPhone Dev Team

We recently reported that the one of the most notable hackers of the iOS hacking community and an active part of the iPhone Dev Team, MuscleNerd, had tweeted that he was working on a baseband downgrade for 06.15.00 baseband. MuscleNerd had promised that the tool will be out within a few days. And now, he has lived up to his promise.

06.15.00 is actually an iPad baseband. A number of iPhone 3G and 3GS owners upgraded to this baseband so that they could easily unlock their iPhone devices. However, one of the chief problems with this baseband is that it somehow makes the GPS stop working, something which can be quite a problem for many iPhone users.

Now that iPhone Dev Team has released a downgrade tool from 06.15, which enables these users to use their GPS normally and also use Ultrasn0w tool to unlock their devices.

MuscleNerd explicitly stated that the downgrade will be made available on Sunday, in the following words, “Sunday should be a Funday for those waiting for 06.15 BB downgrade! (“Sunday”==PDT, i.e UTC-7). Blog will have details before release 🙂

As it is, Sunday is already here and iPhone Dev Team have launched their release, making the new iteration of RedSn0w available. We will soon update you as to how to use this new version to downgrade your iPhone from baseband 06.15.
