Chronic Dev Team has already released Windows version of GreenPois0n RC5 iOS 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. It allows users to perform an untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.2.1 devices. This release works to jailbreak all iPhone, iPod touch, iPad models. Here is the step by step guide for Windows users to apply untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.2.1 devices while using Greenpoison RC5. Greenpois0n Windows version jailbreaks all idevices except Apple TV2, which will supported in the next update.
Note: As GreenPois0n RC5 does not cook your custom .ipsw that means it is impossible to unlock your device after you jailbreak it using GreenPois0n. If your device rely on an unlock it is recommended to wait until Redsn0w or Sn0wbreeze release it’s untether version or you can update to iOS 4.2.1 without upgrading your baseband by using TinyUmbrella. Start TSS Server->Start iTunes->Plug in your iPhone->Restore 4.2.1->Error 1013->Put phone into DFU Mode->Launch Greenpois0n for Mac only.
Below are the instructions on how to Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 untethered on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod Touch 2G, 3G, 4G and Apple TV using GreenPois0n RC5 on Windows.
Step 1: Back up your iPhone / iPad / iPod touch using iTunes.
Step 2: Download Greenpois0n for Windows.
Step 3: Now save your required download to any location.
Step 4: Extract the GreenPois0n tool archive on desktop and double click on greenpois0n to launch.
Step 5: Click on the button “Prepare to Jailbreak (DFU)”
Step 6: Greenpois0n will display the instructions to put your device into DFU mode.
* Press and hold the sleep button for 2 seconds
* While holding Sleep button, press and hold Home button for 10 seconds
* Release the Sleep button but continue holding Home button for 15 seconds
Step 7: Once your iPhone is in DFU mode, click the “Jailbreak” button.
Step 8: Greenpoison will now jailbreak your device.
Step 9 (i): After a successful jailbreak, your device will restart and you will notice a new “Loader” app in Springboard. Launch it and select Cydia to install it.
(ii): If you are unable to install Cydia or you are on unsupported carrier and stuck at Emergency Mode, use Redsn0w to install Cydia and to hacktivate your device.

Hi what is meant by relying on an unlock? Does it mean a if you use a sim lock code?
I have greenpoison on my iPhone 4 but I downloaded some stupid widget and my jailbreak is on safe mode all the time. I restart my phone but no luck in exiting safe mode. I uninstalled the widget and I still experiencing the same issue.
