Every time Apple releases a new version of iPhone, thousands of customers all around the globe line up in front of Apple retail locations to be among the first to buy it. This year, Samsung is trying to understand why are fans so excited about Apple launches and to that end, has been interviewing excited fans standing in long iPhone launch lines.
Many leading smartphone vendors, such as Samsung, launch their top-end smartphones each year. However, in no case other than Apple, fans are so excited that they line up in front of stores for hours, only to be among the first to lay their hands on the new iPhone handset.
Samsung is apparently trying to understand why this is so. Personnel from Samsung were recently found near the long iPhone launch lines, asking customers a whole range of questions. The purpose of this visit, as was revealed by a Samsung official, was “Other companies release new phones, but there’s not as much passion and heat […] It’s only Apple. Why? We’re curious.”
These officials then went on to ask the fans in long lines questions such as “Is the line shorter or longer this year than last?” and “Is the crowd more excited or less excited than previous years?”
It is not clear at this point whether or not Samsung officially endorsed this effort. It is possible that a subsidiary of the company or officials from another Samsung business wanted to gather this information.
