Seas0nPass, a new jailbreak tool has released.It has designed specifically for the Apple TV by FireCore.The functioning process of Seas0nPass is quite similar to PwnageTool but this one is Apple TV specific.SeasonPass creates the custom firmware that you can restore to via iTunes. However it has some extra advantages over PwnageTool.
Seas0nPass was created exclusively for the AppleTV user, as previously no AppleTV specific jailbreak tools were available. Seas0nPass allows you to easily create custom AppleTV IPSW files and restore them in iTunes (similar to the existing Pwnage Tool app). Also included is a simple ‘tethered boot’ option which aids in using newer AppleTV firmwares when an ‘un-tethered’ jailbreak is not yet available.
How to Jailbreak Apple TV iOS 4.2.1 with SeasonPass:
Step 1: Download Seas0nPass for Mac and extract it.
Step 2: If your AppleTV is already jailbroken, you just need to scroll down in order to learn how to perform a tethered boot and if your AppleTV is not yet jailbroken, select ‘Create IPSW’.
Step 3: When prompted, connect ATV with PC using the microUSB cable and hold down the “Menu” and “Play/Pause” button for 7 seconds to enter DFU mode.
Step 4: iTunes will open automatically and start the restore process.
Step 5: Once completed, re-start the SeasonPass and this time click on “Boot Tethered” option.
Step 6: Follow the on-screen/above mentioned trick to put your device into DFU mode. SeasonPass will complete the tethered boot automatically.
How to perform a tethered boot on your AppleTV using Seas0nPass:
Please keep in mind that the AppleTV MUST be disconnected from the computer, for a brief moment, after restoring in iTunes in order for the tethered boot procedure to execute properly.
Step 1: Launch Seas0nPass and select the ‘Boot Tethered’ option.
Step 2: Seas0nPass will them prompt you to connect the AppleTV to your computer via micro USB. Wait for the rapid flashing light then connect the power. Once both are connected hold both the ‘MENU’ and ‘PLAY/PAUSE’ buttons for 7 seven seconds.
Step 3: Seas0nPass will then complete the tethered boot automatically. Once complete, remove the USB cable, connect the HDMI cable and enjoy your jailbroken AppleTV.
Once you are done with the jailbreak, you can install the following apps on your jailbroken 2nd-gen Apple TV.
Can’t get Season Pass to do anything on 3 different OSes. Doesn’t open on OSX, Crashes on XP and demands 3.5GB(!) of HD on 7. How could this software possibly do any good?
