ASUS Eee PC 1215P 12-incher With Linux Ubuntu

Asus has announced the launch of Eee PC 1215P netbooks With the Ubuntu Linux distribution. Asus might be expanding its range of Linux-based netbooks for our delectation. In addition to the Meego and Ubuntu 10-inch models we’ve already seen, an Italian retailer is pushing a new 12-incher on pre-order that hasn’t yet crossed our path.

Asus Eee PC 1215P, for those who have forgotten, has an Intel Atom N570 1.66GHz dual core, combined with 2GB of RAM and 320GB hard drive. The 12.1-inch screen integrates a webcam in its frame, while the 6-cell battery provides a range of up to 8 hours, according to data released by the company (in the Windows-based). We do not know at the moment whether this model will be followed by others on the market, but we can assume that Asus wants to test its customers before extending the offer to the entire series.

Among the advantages of a car with open-source operating system, remember that the user will be able to update the OS for free and frequently, or install a new OS. Judging from a certification page for the 1215P at Ubuntu.com, there’s a strong chance it’ll come with 10.10 Maverick Meerkat pre-installed, which happens to be one of our favorite animals.
