Leaked Video Of Windows Phone 8 “Apollo” Tells About It’s Feature

Windows Phone 8 Apollo is meant to roll out on  Windows Phone manufacturers some time later this year hopefully. So far, we didn’t know anything about it’s specific features and the support it provides. Now, however, thanks to a video of Windows Phone 8 Apollo that has been leaked, we do know the features of the OS. And the OS is excellent, it allows apps to be ported from Windows 8 to Windows Phone platform and will come with built-in Skype.

The most important feature that we have known through this video is that the developers who develop app on Windows 8 platform can easily port it to the Windows Phone platform with very little code change! This is a marvelous feature and will bring together Windows 8 and Windows Phone apps.

Moreover, now that Microsoft has acquired Skype, it only seems natural that it has decided to make Skype a built-in feature of Windows Phone 8 Apollo. The users will get to have a higher audio-visual and VoIP quality.

Apollo will also have a live feature which will let you monitor your data consumption in real-time. This tool is called DataSmart. Microsoft also intends to introduce such features in Apollo which will reduce the overall consumption of data by introducing built-in server-side compression.

It is expected that by the time Windows Phone 8 Apollo hits the market, which will be in the last quarter of 2012, there will be nearly 100,000 apps in ‘Marketplace’, the app store of Microsoft. In Apollo, Microsoft will soon introduce functionality for multiple-cores, NFC and full microSD card storage. This clearly shows that Microsoft intends to take the hardware specs of Windows Phone to an all-new level where it becomes a real contender to the hegemony of iPhone and Android. Only time will tell if Microsoft has any luck with that.
