An internal memo obtained by TmoNews indicates that T-Mobile’s ISIS mobile wallet solution will launch on October 22nd in select markets. ISIS was originally suppose to launch at the end of September, but has experienced a few delays.
At the end of August AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless completed a joint $100 million investment on ISIS to fuel growth of mobile payments. They’ve also formed partnerships with American Express, Discover, Mastercard, and Visa to begin the mobile-payment venture.
Speeding ahead to the future, TmoNews found that ISIS will hit the Google Play store on October 22nd. The internal memo states “this application provides customers the ability to make purchases and transactions with a simple tap of their smartphone.” Only T-Mobile customers located in Salt Lake City, Utah and Austin, Texas will initially receive the trial.
In order to use the ISIS mobile wallet service you will need to request an ISIS SIM card from T-Mobile. These special SIM cards are currently compatible only with Galaxy S III, Galaxy S II and Galaxy S Relay 4G smartphones.
T-Mobile is also offering a sign-up bonus when users activate ISIS mobile wallet. In total, a user may receive up to $10 — $25 upon activating ISIS mobile wallet, and another $15 if the user convert the ISIS cash card to a reloadable prepaid card.
