Although the iPad has been legally launched in the US only (on April 3), it has not stopped stores in Hong Kong from illegally bringing in and selling the iPads at exorbitant prices. The Hong Kong stores had it all planned out: they had groups of students ready to buy, workers waiting to pack, and people set to fly back to Hong Kong. Add that all up and they were selling iPads only a few days after Apple. Now that’s efficiency!
The stores are selling the iPads for $971 for 16GB, $980 for 32B, and $1080 for 64GB. That is almost double price charged by Apple! On a side note, the 32GB version is only $9 more than the 16GB in Hong Kong, it’s a $100 difference here. Oh Apple, even people in Hong Kong know an extra 16GB isn’t worth $100.

Please Define ILLEGALLY? as far as I know, in legal circles, no law has been broken, If peopel are willing to pay the price then you sell, I have not heard any Law passed that says a Store owner can not buy from another store, Also in Hong Kong, there is no import duty, so they are not skirting the law to bring these devices in, also, they pay their profits tax on the money earned from the sale, so Tell me, where is the ILLEGALLY clause come from, or is this just Hype exaggeration to make your report sound more exiting? This article could be deemed illegal or misleading for stating this untruth.
I will also add, Whether you buy an IPad2 locally on a store reselling overseas Ipads, or you buy it your self from Australia, Apple is still offering world wide support for the devices. So even in Apples eyes, its not the release they planned, but they still earned their profit from the Tablets, and show their support for overpriced Tablets that were re-purchased. You could consider the over priced market as being an over priced Second hand market supported by limited supply and people without patients to wait who have more money than sence.
Dude, it’s legal. These are legally bought from various countries. No export / import law is broken to bring them to HK. And they are legally sold in HK. You are either ignorant or a sensationalist. If not, you will probably fix your post after learning the mistake
