HP Is Reportedly Working On Android Tablet And Smartphone

Rumors regarding HP’s re-entry into the mobile arena have been vague. Until now, HP seemed to have no plans of venturing into the tablet or smartphone market again. But now, rumors are abound that the company is readying both an Android tablet and a smartphone which will be released later this year.

HP WebOS tablet

According to the rumors, the tablet HP is readying will be packed with a Nvidia Tegra 4 quad-core chip. Other details of this rumored tablet are unknown, except the fact that it will be running a flavor of Android.

The ‘sources’ also suggest that the company is also working on a smartphone, although what hardware will go into this handset is not revealed. It is hard to substantiate these rumors given the little amount of information they divulge.

However, it would make sense for HP to take another chance in the mobile market. PC sales have sharply declined over recent years and if HP is unable to position itself in a world that is fast going mobile, the company may run into troubles. In the past, HP did venture into the mobile space but that ended up poorly. We hope that if indeed HP is planning to plan a similar move, the results are less disastrous this time.

Even if a Tegra-4 HP tablet is on its way, analysts peg its possible release date to be not before late August. So we have ample time in between to determine if the rumors are true and see if any other scoops regarding this surface.
