MWC 2012 – ViewSonic Reveals Android 4.0 Tablet, ViewPad G70

We have waiting for some really cool Android 4.0 tablets to debut at Mobile World Congress 2012. Now we have a few glimpses of ViewSonic’s Android 4.0 tablet, ViewPad G70. The tablet comes with a 7-inch display and as the name suggests, tools the latest Android OS, Ice Cream Sandwich. It comes with 4GB of storage which may be a put-off for such users who want their tablets to be an alternative to the regular computer. The display of the tablet is also markedly better than ViewSonic’s E70 tablet which was shown off at CES 2011.

ViewPad G70 comes with a 1GHz processor and 1GB of RAM. The storage space is a meagre 4GB. The fact that it tools ICS definitely makes it worth a shot. Moreover, ViewSonic has skinned ICS with a busy 3D interface of it’s own, which is being called ViewScene 3D. The skin, although it may prove to be quite convenient and useful for some users, is a bit heavy and tends to slow things down for the tablet.

The price of the tablet has been said to be ‘less than $399’ which puts it somewhere among the mid-range Android tablets. According to ViewSonic, it will hit the shelves in Europe sometime during the second quarter of 2012 and a US launch will briefly follow.
