According to reports, Samsung is preparing a new tablet that may arrive some time during this year. The tablet will be a part of the Nexus line-up and will be branded as Nexus 11.
Nexus 11 is not the only tablet that Samsung plans to push out this year. Although Samsung doesn’t enjoy a very significant presence in the tablet market, the company has launched a major push to bring its tablets into the limelight. To that end, it is expected that Samsung will release four new tablets before 2013 expires. These will include the next iteration of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab line-up.
In the past, we have seen Nexus 7 become somewhat of a huge success in the mini tablet market. The tablet was a collaboration between Asus and Google. Banking on this, Samsung’s upcoming Nexus 11 can also garner great sales.
The Nexus 11 slate will reportedly feature an 11-inch Super PLS TFT display together with an 8-megapixel rear camera as well as a 2-megapixel front camera. Moreover, the tablet will be powered up by an octa-core processor and users will have the option of expanding the storage space via microSD card.
If indeed these reports turn out to be true, the octa-core processor will put Nexus 11 among the ‘Ivy-league’ of high-end tablets. Samsung hasn’t confirmed or refuted the rumors, so for now we have no idea regarding the availability or pricing of the tablet. It is also unclear as to what version of Android this slate will run.
