UpNext HD Maps Lets You Explore 3D Maps of US Cities On iPad

If you’re like me and you have the tendency to get lost in the city pretty often then you might be happy to find out that the mapping company UpNext has recently released a new iPad app that features amazing 3D mapping technology. The app is free for iPad users and allows you to search and zoom in or out of maps with the cities available (50 of them) rendered in 3D. 23 of them enjoy also particularly fine details.

Even if the app requires an Internet connection to work, there’s always the alternative of pre-caching the recent places you’ve been when you were offline. This street view is really a sight for sore eyes. You can slide through the streets and blocks in full exquisite 3D, enjoying the rich details. The map will also come with a compass, so navigating a city will become a no brainer even for people who are usually lost and intimidated by huge places.

Also, have a particular place you have to be? Are you going out to a new club tonight? Or are you looking to locate that French place you are invited to, for your friend’s birthday party next weekend? The app provides the possibility of searching for places as such by categories. You have Dining, Recreation, Shopping and Nightlife. Once you choose one of them, you’ll see the subcategories listing in the main tab. And the app also tips you on the Deals you might be able to find.

The app will work with any iPad but requires at least iOS 4 and is a 16 GB download.
