Microsoft Confirms That It Was Hacked Recently, No Customer Data Stolen

The year of 2013 might be turning into a year of the hackers (or crackers). We have seen many tech companies like Facebook, Apple, and Twitter reporting about cyber attacks. Now it’s time to add one more name in that list. World’s largest software maker Microsoft announced on Friday, February 22, via its Security Response Center blog that it had been a victim of cyber espionage recently.

Microsoft Hacked

Through its blog, Microsoft announced that “a small number” of its computers had “recently” been infected with malicious software, in a similar way experienced by Facebook and Apple, earlier. But Microsoft found “no evidence of customer data being affected”.

Microsoft revealed the information a bit later, because it was “gathering data about the attack”. Now, Microsoft is running an investigation.
