Colin Beighley and Fergus Noble, the team members of Swift Navigation, have devised Piksi (pronounced “pixie”), a new GPS receiver that could give unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) a GPS signal accurate to an inch.

In plain word, it will decrease the operating costs at off-grid telecom sites with upgraded technology. No doubt, this will reduce the dependency rate of telecom tower on diesel generators.
BMW recently unveiled the first two models in its new ‘i’ series, the i3 and the i8 concepts and the futuristically styled cars are based on BMW’s new LifeDrive architecture. BMW i3 is an electric vehicle designed for urban environments and formerly called the MegaCity Vehicle, the EV is powered by a 125 kW electric motor that offers drivers an 80-mile electric driving range. The BMW i3 has a 0-60 mph time of less than eight seconds and its high-speed charger achieves an 80-percent battery charge in just one hour. We’ll have to wait until 2014 to see if München can make good on those promises………………..
Renewable energy technologies are likely to become more important as other energy sources become depleted and the cost of power generation using fossil fuels rises. Renewable sources of energy have considerable potential for increasing security of supply although, in most cases, they require significant initial investment. Recognising the importance of developing renewable energy resources, the Highways Agency commissioned a preliminary scoping study in 2001 to explore available methods and assess the possibility of renewable energy generation being exploited within the highway network. This study recommended a positive response by Highways Agency in implementing full-scale trials of renewable energy generation.
