Samsung Become World’s Top Smartphone Manufacturer

Samsung has now become the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer, leaping past Apple, which held the title for just one quarter and Samsung shipped 27.8 million smartphones last quarter, accounting for 23.8 percent of the smartphone market, compared to Apple’s 17.1 million units shipped. Even though Nokia has been in a heavy transition period they managed to hold onto 3rd place with 16.8 million smartphones shipped, claiming 14.4% market share and RIM, LG, Sony Ericsson, Motorola all make up the others category. While Apple is expecting all-time record iPhone sales during the current quarter as the iPhone 4S rolls out around the world and it still may not be enough to overcome Samsung’s significant lead and strong growth…………………

Samsung Electronics announces third quarter 2011 results consolidated operating profit reaches 4.25 trillion won on revenues of 41.27 trillion won and this overall profit falls despite incredible phone sales. Samsung’s bread-and-butter chip business saw its profit more than halve to 1.59 trillion won from a year earlier, but it held up well as its relatively high exposure to lucrative mobile chips helped the firm offset a sharp plunge in prices of commodity computer memory chips and Samsung was the sole profitable firm among major global DRAM chip makers in the third quarter……………..

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus WiFi Coming To US

Samsung officially announced the upcoming availability of its Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus tablet featuring the Peel Smart Remote TV appliation and the 7-inch slate will hit retailers on November 13th for $400, four days before Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablet starts shipping. Running Android Honeycomb, the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is small, weighs a mere 12 ounces, is just a trim 0.39-inches thick, and features a 7-inch display and there’s no word yet if the slate will use an LCD screen or an AMOLED, but Samsung’s Touchwiz UI should be installed. The 16GB is the only version arriving so far, the 32GB flavor later this year or early 2012 and will begin taking pre-orders of the slate on October 23rd……………….

Verizon Confirms Samsung Galaxy Nexus Launch

Verizon officially confirmed that it will offer the Samsung Galaxy Nexus later this year and the arrier did not announce an exact release date or pricing at this time, but Samsung and Google said last week at the unveiling event that the smartphone would start shipping in the US, as well as parts of Asia and Europe, in November. The Galaxy Nexus model showed off in Hong Kong supported the technologies used by AT&T and T-Mobile and Samsung obviously designed an additional model that takes advantage of the CDMA and LTE networks used by Verizon. Samsung Galaxy Nexus sports a 4.65-inch HD sAMOLED touch-screen display with 1280-by-720 resolution and it’s 8.94 millimeters thin with a 4.29-millimeter bezel and runs a 1.2-GHz, dual-core application processor………………….
