Asus And MSI Announces First Thunderbolt Certified Motherboards

Asus and MSI have introduced two Thunderbolt motherboards, sharing the position of the first Thunderbolt certified motherboard maker. Both Asus P8Z77-V and MSI’s Z77A-GD80 motherboards are based on Intel’s Z77 Express chipset. Both the motherboards support Ivy Bridge platform and uses Apple’s Mini Display Port implementation of Thunderbolt. Both the motherboards are expected to make their debuts at the Taipei Computex show in two weeks.

VIA Introduces APC Android PC System For $49

Taiwanese chip maker VIA Technologies has introduced an APC Android PC system. It is a $49 low power desktop computer system which will run on a modified version of Android 2.3. The APC is powered by WonderMedia ARM 800MHz processor. It also has 512MB of DDR3 memory, 2GB of flash storage. It has full set of consumer I/O features in a small footprint Neo-ITX motherboard which can be connected to a TV or monitor to output resolution of up to 720p. The APC will be accepting pre-orders soon and it will be shipped in early July 2012 for just $49.

Microsoft has released 1.5 version of the Kinect for Windows runtime and SDK (Software Development Kit). The latest Kinect for Windows has Seated Skeletal Tracking. It can track head, shoulders, and arm skeleton when a person moves. The tracking system is ignoring the leg and hip joints. By using C++, C# or Visual Basic, developers can create applications for the Kinect for Windows SDK. The new Kinect for Windows hardware is now available in Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan.
