The picture you see below has been described as the deadliest place in the solar system, and its been photographed in all its frightening glory by NASA’s new Solar Dynamics Observatory. This image is among the first beamed back by the new spacecraft, and its both beautiful and terrifying. NASA also released an HD video which you can watch below.
SDO was launched on February in a five year mission to study the sun’s magnetic field. Its image quality is ten times better that 1080p television, four times the resolution of the previous king of the Sun observers, the STEREO spacecraft.
