New Apple Patent Shows Schematic Maps

Apple has shown interest in creating a new Maps application for the iPhone and other iOS devices that would exaggerate some details, like roads or landmarks to make navigation easier to follow and a patent shows that Apple’s maps will simplify things to the user by providing the most relevant information in the given situation. Coincidentally this seems to go with Apple’s overall design philosophy and the patent is called Schematic Maps, which first determines the amount of screen real estate that is available to the user………….

Panasonic, Samsung, Sony And XpanD To Collaborate For Setting Up New 3D Glasses Standard

Panasonic, Sony, Samsung and XpanD finally team up for an active 3D glasses standard and CEA is playing catch up on the IR glasses problem, but many of the new HDTVs for 2011 are using Bluetooth technology to keep their glasses in sync, again without any promise of cross-manufacturer compatibility. The companies are announcing the Full HD Glasses Initiative, which should lay down a standard for consumer active shutter glasses to communicate over Bluetooth or IR and the new glasses should be backwards compatible with this year’s TVs, although early adopters from 2010 have no such guarantee……………

MSI Preparing To Release A New Generation GE620DX Gaming Notebook

MSI just rolled out of its new generation GE620DX gaming notebook computer with Power plus performance, a Intel Core i7-2630QM quad core processor, top-of-the-line nVidia GeForce GT 555M discrete graphics card, MSI Premium Sound, and THX TruStudio Pro wrap around sound. In addition to its 15.6-inch 1366 x 768 HD display, this “dream machine” sports a 720p camera, an HDMI out port and USB 3.0. The company’s also thrown in a GPU Boost feature, but we will have to wait for an official price and retail date.

LG also fitted its DX2000 with the usual 2D to 3D conversion technology and while it’s destined to hit Korean streets later this month, other regions are slated to get it during the latter part of 2011…………

Apple Physics Metaphoric Gestures For iOS Patent

A recently uncovered Apple patent filing shows the company has looked into using more advanced physics metaphors in a mulitouch environment to replace the traditional virtual desktop and user can make an intuitive, physical gesture with a first device, which can be detected by one or more onboard motion sensors. The plan to connect devices also brings in the motion sensors inside the iPad and iPhone, showing an iPhone being held over an iPad to pour icons from one to the other……….
