Apple’s New Senior Vice President Of Retail: John Browett From Dixons

Apple didn’t have a senior Vice President for it’s retail division ever since Ron Johnson left Apple last year. We’ve been waiting that who will be the lucky person to get to that prized seat and now we have the answer. Apple has chosen John Browett for the position. Browett is formerly working with Dixons, which is a consumer electronics retail chain in Europe. He will quit his former job to join Apple.

The announcement came only now and it seems like Apple has made sure it has all people in their positions before it gears up for iPad 3 and iPhone 5. The official announcement from Apple read thus,

“CUPERTINO, California—January 30, 2012—Apple® today announced that John Browett will join the company as senior vice president of Retail, reporting to Apple CEO Tim Cook. Browett comes to Apple from European technology retailer Dixons Retail, where he has been CEO since 2007. Beginning in April, he will be responsible for Apple’s retail strategy and the continued expansion of Apple retail stores around the world.

“Our retail stores are all about customer service, and John shares that commitment like no one else we’ve met,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “We are thrilled to have him join our team and bring his incredible retail experience to Apple.”

Prior to joining Dixons Retail, Browett held a series of executive positions at Tesco plc including CEO of Earlier in his career he advised retail and consumer goods clients at Boston Consulting Group. He holds a degree in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University and an MBA from Wharton Business School.”

Browett will be leading Apple’s worldwide retail operation which are currently handled by Apple executive, Peter Oppenheimer. It is expected that Browett may eventually join Apple more than a month later after he wraps up his office at Dixon.
