Microsoft has done good over the years. But the slow PC sales and the rapid move of the computing world from PCs to mobile devices took a toll on the company. However, the company seems back in action, having scored a five-year high stock value this year. And that has put Bill Gates back in the position of world’s richest person.
The closest contender of Gates is Carlos Slim. Slim has been at the top position for a while now but Gates benefited from the surge in the value of Microsoft’s stock. As a result, his fortune is now estimated at $72.7 billion, topping that of Slim.
Another reason why Slim has lost the top crown is that the Congress in Mexico has passed a bill which has significantly trimmed Slim’s fortunes. The stock value of Slim’s company, America Movil, has dropped by 14 percent, taking with it, nearly $3 billion of Slim’s fortune.
America Movil is the largest mobile phone operator in the Americas region and in the past, a number of allegations have been levelled against the company. Many have criticized Slim’s company for overcharging the customers and the move by Congress has to be seen in that context.
The third person in the list is the famed investor Warren Buffet. His fortunes are estimated at $59.7 billion. Interestingly, Google’s co-founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, are down in the list. Although Google has been performing really well over the recent years, the duo are ranked at 18 and 19 in the list of world’s richest persons.

For one thing, he’s NOT the richest guy on earth. Its just, that the true richest guys on earth own the media companies that put out this list, and they make sure they aren’t on it. There would be the Rothschilds at around half a trillion and the other sleazebags that own the FED. You’ll never find them in any of these lists… They like to stay in the shadows.
For another, Bill Gates should really help himself to some cosmetic surgery, he looks even worse for wear now.
