Details Of Redbox Instant Accidentally Leaked On The Web

We have been hearing for a while that Verizon and Redbox are collaborating to launch a video service of their own but neither has divulged much detail about it. Now, it seems that the official website of the service, Redboxinstant.com has mistakenly leaked these details to the web.

Redbox Instant

The details about the upcoming video service became known when the folks at the website apparently posted a ‘help’ section by mistake. The page was pulled offline soon but not before a number of tech websites were able to get a good look at it.

According to the section, users will be able to get unlimited access to video streaming by Redbox for $6 per month whereas for $8 per month, the users will get to have four rentals per month from any of the Redbox DVD kiosks.

It is important to note here that the $6 per month for unlimited access will make the new service far more lucrative than the $7.99 that Netflix currently charges. But then, it makes sense for a new service to offer competitive rates initially to gain traction after the launch.

The Redbox Instant service will be supported across a wide range of platforms. It could be accessed on Xbox 360, iOS and Android devices, through the web and even on certain Samsung connected TVs. The exact date of the launch of the service is unknown although in light of the hints found in the leaked ‘help’ section, GigamOm has predicted that Redbox Instant will go live on Dec 17th.
