Acer has developed a new monitor which is capable to access media content and web browsing without connect to a computer, naming as Acer DX241H. Also dubbed the Acer Web Surf Station, this very innovative PC monitor packs both wired and wireless networking options, and a built-in proprietary web-browser, that can be easily accessed via the remote control accompanying the display, that slides open to reveal a full-QWERTY keyboard for users to input web addresses.
It features a 24-inch Full (1920 x 1080) TN panel, a 2ms response time, an 80,000:1 contrast ratio and a maximum brightness of 300 cd.m2. It all sounds pretty regular right? The fun starts now as Acer’s product comes with an integrated browser (Chrome according to report) which enables users to check their favorite sites whether or not they have a PC around. All that’s required is an internet connection, either wired (a LAN port is available for that) or wireless (you need an adapter that plugs into one of the two USB 2.0 ports included).
Beside those mentioned, the DX241H has built-in speakers, D-Sub and HDMI outputs, and a media card reader. But wait, there’s more, like DLNA support and the clear.fi system which helps you share and ‘enjoy’ multimedia content (music, images, videos) found on the web, a memory card, or a USB-connected storage device.
The Acer DX241H ‘web surf station’ monitor is already available for pre-order with priced at €299.
