LG’s Android 4.0 ICS Devices Get A New User Interface

One of the primary attracting for users to the Android platform is the fact that Android vendors are able to tweak the open-source software and make it more useful and beautiful. We have seen Samsung runs its skins atop Android, making the whole experience of using Android much more awesome! And now, LG has announced that it will be releasing a new user interface for its ICS devices.

The new user interface that LG plans to run on its Ice Cream Sandwich devices is called ‘Optimus UI 3.0.’ The new interface will equip the device with a number of new features. One of the chief features which will be a part of this interface is that of ‘Quick Memo.’ With ‘Quick Memo’, users can quickly and easily takes note with their very fingers.

Moreover, users can share the information or notes from the Quick Memo features to their social networks. The update from LG doesn’t seem to be meant to make a huge difference to the experience of using its ICS devices. Rather, it is meant to simply make the devices ‘faster, simpler and more convenient.’ From the looks of the new UI, it does appear very appealing and may catch the eyes of customers.

The company has tweaked the interface so that a user can unlock the home screen by dragging anywhere on the screen. Moreover, the user can also decide which functions will appear on the home screen immediately after it is unlocked. This is accomplished through the ‘Pattern Lock’ feature.

Other new features include the ability to take photos with voice commands, tweaking the appearance of application icons and a new Download category. Read the full press release from LG here
