Sapphire Shows Off Radeon HD 7950 Mac Pro Edition At CeBIT

AMD partner Sapphire has introduced a high-end Radeon HD 7950 Mac Pro edition graphics card at CeBIT. This GPU was released following Apple’s introduction of Radeon HD 7000-series drivers in OS X 10.8.3 beta last November.

The Sapphire HD 7950 Mac Pro Edition is based on the original HD 7950 GPU, which uses dark brown board with a boost function and has 850MHz Engine Clock (up to 925MHz with Boost), 3GB GDDR5 memory, 240GB/s memory bandwidth, and 1250MHz Memory Clock. The HD 7950 is about 2x faster than the HD 5870.

MacRumors reported that “AMD plans to sell the Sapphire HD 7950 Mac Pro Edition for $450”, while two required 6-pin power adapters will run $25 each. Check the hands-on video of the Sapphire HD 7950 Mac Pro Edition from CeBit.
