Microsoft launched Office for iPad on March 27 and it seems like within a week, it has garnered over attraction of people. Yesterday, Microsoft announced via Twitter that until April 3, Microsoft Office for iPad was downloaded more than 12 million times.
Microsoft’s Office for iPad includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. The apps are free to download — but actually editing or creating new documents in Word, Excel or PowerPoint requires an Office 365 subscription.
Although Microsoft disclosed that more than 12 million Office for iPad was downloaded until April 3, it didn’t reveal how many new subscription it had sold through Office for iPad apps. But it was found that Office for iPad went to the top of Apple’s App Store within few hours after launch.
Microsoft said in a statement: “We’re extremely pleased with the Office for iPad interest we’ve seen from consumers and business alike. We have no additional details to share.”
