Microsoft said there would be a few surprises in its Release to Manufacturing (RTM) version of Windows 8. The company hinted that there would be some changes in the final version of Windows 8. However, Win8china has spotted something regarding some changes.
Microsoft has made a very simple change in Windows 8 OS. It has changed the name of Windows Explorer and renamed it as File Explorer. To be noted, only the name has been been changed, not its (Windows Explorer’s) functionality. The functionality of Windows Explorer will remain same in File Explorer. This simple change was noticed by Win8china.
Microsoft used the name File Manager for an application in early versions of Windows that allowed its users to create and manage files and directories. Windows Explorer replaced File Manager in Windows 95. Windows Explorer is a foundation of the user experience of the Windows desktop. In Windows 95, Microsoft introduced its Start menu and Start button. Be noted, Windows 8 has no Start button and menu.
It’s crystal clear that Microsoft is trying to freshen up its operating system. We hope to see more changes before it reaches the Release to Manufacturing (RTM) which is scheduled for late July. The final release of Windows 8 may arrive in stores from mid-October, 2012.
