Until now, hoverboards have been found in sci-fi movies only. But while the modern science and technology are here, then why hoverboards should be confined in movies or in imaginary world? However now, Hendo is introducing the world’s first real hoverboard.
The Hendo hoverboard has four disc-shaped hover engines. These disc-shaped hover engines create a special magnetic field which literally pushes against itself, generating the lift which levitates our board off the ground. In other word, the hoverboard uses electromagnetic energy and using this electromagnetic energy, it can float about an inch above non-ferrous metals (metals without a lot of iron) exclusively. Here are the specs (approximate) of this real hoverboard:

- Hover Height: 1/4″ – 1/2″ (1 cm – 1.5 cm)

The prototype needs non-ferromagnetic conduction. Right now, the Hendo team has used commonly available metals to create this real life hobverboard, but they are working on new compounds and new configurations to maximize this technology and minimize costs. On the other hand, Beyond the Hoverboard, the company has big plans for the technology.
In theory it can be used to levitate anything from toys to furniture to entire buildings. That’s right, in the future Hendo hopes its technology can keep buildings safe from earthquakes by lifting them a few inches into the air. The Hendo team is working to make “everyday applications” of the hoverboard a reality. They are even providing hover developer kits called the “Whitebox” for $299.
The Hendo Hoverboard team targeted to collect a total fund of $250,000 by 1:59 pm (+06:00), December 15, 2014 via Kickstarter. But as of writing, the team has collected $366,865 from 2,130 backers, keeping 48 days in hand. The Hendo Hoverboard costs $10,000, and they are offering rides at their “hoverpark” in Silicon Valley for the first 250 Kickstarter pledgers who make donations of $100 or more, starting in March 2015.
