The technology world seems to be focusing more ans more on wearable technologies. We have already seen demonstrations of Google Glass. Rumors about Apple and Samsung making smartwatches of their own are abuzz. Now, South Korean tech giant LG joins the race, albeit unofficially.
According to a “source familiar to the matter” quoted by the Korea Times, LG is working on two major products – one is a smartwatch, another is an augmented reality device like Google Glass. These are “one major part of many currently non-commercialized products under development by LG Electronics,” said the source. The development of these two products is part of LG’s long-term strategy.
The nitty-gritty about the gadgets are yet to be briefed. But, we can speculate that the smartwatch in question would probably be more than just a refresh of LG’s GD910 watch-phone. As for the software part, there is not enough information whether the smartwatch will be running on Android or Firefox OS. The augmented reality glasses will probably be in line with Google Glass.
